LOOKING BACK
Women’s Retreat and Tile Class had a wonderful gathering last Friday evening,
with 35 in attendance. I do believe they issued a challenge to the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group. By the time this appears in the bulletin, we will know the “results.”

VISION AND PLANNING COMMITTEE UPDATE
It has been a number of months now that the Vision and Planning Committee has been meeting and we wanted to provide
the parish with a brief update of our discussions and information gathering. The main purpose for this committee was to help chart the direction and spiritual growth of our parish, as well as to review what to do with the buildings we will be taking over from the Graves County School System in June of 2010. On the spiritual side one of the results of our retreat and meetings has been the formation of the Saturday Morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast on the third Saturday of each month. We have had over 30 men attend each of these sessions so far as we join in prayer and fellowship. Other prayer, scripture and retreat sessions have also been developed. Regarding the physical plant we are developing a program use for each of the facilities we will get back from the school system and determining the usage of the other buildings we own. We are close to completing our development of programs for the buildings at which time we will make recommendations to the Parish Council, to the Buildings and Grounds Committee, and the Finance Committee.

ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO MINISTRY? - We are in need of more people to take communion to the sick and homebound. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry please call the Parish Center. For more information, call Mary Willie Thomas at 270-623-8375.

WHAT IS SERRA? Founded in 1935 by Dan Rooney, Leo Sharkey, Richard Ward and Harold Haberle. The primary objective is to encourage priestly vocations. John Bray suggested naming the club after Father Junipero Serra. The objective is the encouragement of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Today, 20,000 lay Catholics (or Serrans, as they call themselves) work in 18th-century Franciscan missionary Blessed Junipero Serra's name to fulfill that objective. They are spread over 42 countries, with more than 750 Serra clubs. They accomplish this through straightforward means as prayer, providing assistance to seminarians, or raising vocations awareness through multimedia communications. Informational booklets and prayers cards are at the doors if you would like more information or to join.

If a priest, deacon, employee or volunteer is thought to be the cause of abuse, immediately contact the State authorities as well as the Bishop or a member of the Review Board at 270.683.1545. A copy of the Diocesan Policy dealing with sexual abuse of minors or vulnerable persons is available in the parish office and from the Catholic Pastoral Center.
